Pop singer Sandra is back! Her new album "Back To Life" proves that an artist can very well be successful after more than 20 years in the music business. Her new album convinces you with beautiful ballads and temporary Latino-Dance songs as well as typical Pop songs. On 9th May in this year, Sandra and Thomas Anders will launch their contribution to the Summer Hit 2009 since their Duet "The night is still young" will be released that day. We talked to Sandra about the album and her next plans.


I am doing my thing!

- "Back To Life" is the name of your new album. Sandra is back! What kind of expectations do you have for the album?

Sandra: Well, I think that this is by far the best pop album I have ever recorded. I mainly recorded it in New York and wanted to make sure that I combine as many different styles of music as possible. Some songs were recorded at my studio on Ibiza and due to modern technology, I was able to stay in touch with Toby in the USA. I want to be surprised but I hope that it will enter the charts on a higher position than "The Art Of Love". I wish for the new album to be within the Top 15. Maybe the second single will push the album some more.


- How was it for you to have several producers working on the new album instead of working with Michael only?

Sandra: Well, when I recorded "The Art Of Love", I was already separated from Michael and therefore worked with Jens. I loved his easy and uncomplicated way of working on the album. Michael always had a strict concept about how the album was supposed to be. Toby and Jens work differently. We try many things just for the fun of it and if we don't like it, we just start all over again. I love working with them and I enjoy my freedom as an artist.


- Were there any songs that did not make it on the album?

Sandra: Oh yes, there were many songs left! "Kiss my" ended up being a bonus track on the single, "Redis moi" and "Echo of my heart" turned out to be bons tracks on the iTunes version of the album. The remaining songs will be used for the next album. I was fighting hard in order to get "Kiss my" to be a regular album track but the record company decided against it. I love this song because it's so different and totally crazy but still suits my voice.

- One of the bonus tracks is called "Echo of my heart". Does the song have anything to do with the song "Prince of my heart", which was originally written for "The Wheel Of Time" but didn't make it on the album?


Sandra: No, "Prince of my heart" was written by Michael and has nothing to do with the new song. Any resemblance is pure coincidence.

- When will the new single be released?

Sandra: "The night is still young" will be released on the 9th of May and I am really looking forward to it. We have just finished the video shoot on Ibiza and it was lots of fun recording a video again. We rented a pirate's ship and it became a real summer video. It was raining on the island of Ibiza through out the whole winter but we got lucky the day of the video shoot! I insisted on shooting a video for this song!


- Are there any TV performances scheduled yet?

Sandra: Yes, we will perform the song at Carmen Nebel's evening show, the Fernsehgarten and at "The Dome". Most likely we will also have a performance at the summer edition of "Wetten dass...?" on the island of Mallorca.

- Unfortunately, music videos seem to disappear completely...

Sandra: Yes, that's a shame. I always loved shooting music videos. Most record companies don't invest any more money in music videos and most companies are suffering these days anyway. We still had to pay half of the costs as that is normal for any artist nowadays.


- Will there be a third single?

Sandra: Yes! I would love to release a ballad around Christmas time. It will either be "Just like breathing" or "Behind those words". We will still have to debate which one to pick. I am never sure what to chose or what the radio stations might play. When it comes to the radio stations I honestly have no clue why they play what and how to even foresee that.


- Toby Gad is a very successful and very talented producer. Did Jens happen to introduce you to Toby?

Sandra: Yes, exactly. Jens called Toby and shortly after that, Toby said that he had a few songs that were perfect

I flew to the USA and listened to all of them, picked a few and started recording them one after the other. By the way, even though "Just like breathing" bears a resemblance to "If I were a boy", I have to say that my song was written before Beyonce's song!

- The song "Redis moi" is a bonus track on the iTunes version of your album. The song is very temporary and could do very well at clubs. Are there any plans to send the song to several DJs?


Sandra: I wrote the song myself! Of course you can still hear some of the Cretu elements but I guess after more than 20 years of influence, that's normal. My son Nikita loves this song and I must admit that I was surprised to hear that from him since he only watches British MTV. Maybe we should consider spreading the song at clubs.

- "Tete a Tete" is in French...

Sandra: Yes, that's true. I wrote this song for the French market. I felt like I owed a song like this to my French fans since I have sold so many records in France already. The new album will not be released in France and other European countries until May of this year so I can have enough time to promote the album in Germany first. I used to be in Paris a lot and got inspired by Vanessa Paradis' song "Joe le Taxi".


- Are you going to release different songs as singles in different countries?

Sandra: I am planning to release "Tete a Tete" in France in order to promote the album.

- Why did you pick "In a heartbeat" as the first single?

Sandra: My record company made that decision. I wanted "The night is still young" as first single but it was too early for a summer song. After that, the record company ran a few surveys and chose "In a heartbeat".


- You are wearing a beautiful necklace showing all zodiacal signs. The necklace can be seen on the cover of your CD as well...

Sandra: This is our engagement necklace and it means a lot to me! I don't really believe in Horoscopes but I liked the idea of putting it inside the CD cover as well.


- Your appearance changed a lot since your last album. Was that planned?

Sandra: No. I think it is normal to change. I usually don't plan something like that. I wanted to wear a simple, white suit on the new cover instead of being all sexy again like I was on the previous covers. I wanted to keep it light and simple. I will have to figure out what to wear for the performances coming up. I usually carry a lot of clothes with me so I can decide spontaneously what to wear. I still have tons of clothes from the past and I don't throw away anything. This jacket that I am wearing today is over 10 years old and I still love wearing it.

- You sing in English, French and Spanish. Any plans for a song in German?

Sandra: No, definitely not! As an international artist, I can't sing in German. A German artist can always sing in English but it doesn't work the other way round. It still have to go well with my other songs too.


- Is it true that you will go on a big world tour?

Sandra: Yes, that's true and I am looking forward to it. These days I practice with a bunch of live musicians in my house and let me tell you, it grooves like hell! I finally know again why I decided to become a singer! It's so much fun and I can't wait to get on stage. We already have quite a few concerts confirmed. We will have a total of 40 concerts in Russia, 5 in the USA, 3 in Israel, 3 in the Emirates and 10 concerts in Asia.

- Are there going to be any concerts in Germany?

Sandra: In Germany, you can only go on tour if your album hits number one and I am so tired of that. That's the reason why I haven't been on tour for so many years and therefore I will start outside of Germany. Nobody wanted "Maria Magdalena" in Germany at first and after a while it made its way to the top of the charts through the other countries. We sent out flyers to every concert agency in Germany and we hope that we will have a few confirmed dates in Germany as well as soon as they see the growing success in the other countries. Of course I would love to perform in Germany, so we will see. I don't follow the rules this time, I am simply doing my own thing now

Sandra was the one of the 80's German singers who enjoyed good popularity. Eight hits from top 10 brought Saarland girl the nickname of "hit's machine". Maria Magdalena was the most known song, which went to top of charts in over 21 countries. After longer break Sandra dared to start everything in music from the beginning.

     ZDF Online: Sandra, a lot of new happens in you. First of all you seem well-rested. Is your new album the beginning of new era?
Sandra: You can say this way. New life, new happiness, new album, it's a good formula. Now I'm inclining towards American pop music. It also follows that I worked for this in studio in New York in one and the half year. This Sandra, we could hear, it's new Sandra now.

You cut off from a lot of checked methods. Also from the husband and producer Michael Cretu. Can music be the kind of therapy?
Of course. Music helps survive matters, which we disown. On my albums, especially the last one, I'm my own psychologist. Said popularly I "vomited" everything what lied on my soul. So now I feel much better. The past was checked off.

You ealier were extremely ambitious, you aimed at success with stubbornness. Was it mistake?
Maybe it was, cause it was too tiresome and there wasn't nothing more beside music. From the second side in the 80ies I achieved a big success. We coudn't do nothing witout ambition. This mixture of obstinacy and ambition works. But today I am more calmed. This is good to me.

What do you think about castings, in which new stars are created?
For me they're not stars, but maybe they feel like that. These new stars come to the stage straight out from school table. To be a star is something more. First of all, a lot of work, still ups and downs. I also took part in some casting, so I know what I say.

What do you advise today young singers, who promote some hits?
They can't yield to temptation of fast money. First of all, not to sing in tents with beer in galas, even if this is easy money. Cause if you will sing there once, then it will weigh on your image till the end. Not to sign long contracts. Cause always it will happend something, for example - gave birth to children, like it was with me. But most important is learn to sing, still learn!

In Japan and lots of Eastern European countries you are still very popular. Why you aren't popular in Germany?
It involves with this, that in 1995 I moved to Ibiza and in Germany I was very rarely. There forgot about fast. In Japan and Eastern Europe is differently. There my songs are still played.

Today you sing together with Thomas Anders. How did the music cooperation happen?
On the beach on Ibiza. There I met Thomas Anders and I asked, if we could record something together. He was for this. We fit to each other very well. Thomas Anders is the male voice and I am the female voice of the 80ies!

And some private. You will get married soon. What kind of music will be played on your wedding?
We still discuss about this a long time. But one is sure: I certainly will not sing on my wedding!

BOMBA!!! Casa de 18 milioane euro a lui Michael Creţu, demolată!!!

În 1996, buldozerele au lucrat timp de şase luni pentru a defrişa vârful unui munte de pe coasta vestică a insulei spaniole Ibiza, pentru a pregăti terenul pentru construirea unei reşedinţe de vis a cântăreţului de origine română, Michael Creţu. Paisprezece ani mai târziu, buldozerele pun la pământ casa evaluată la peste 18 milioane euro, relatează portalul Art Daily, citat de Agerpres

Construirea casei cu un stil arhitectonic marocan ce sugerează ceva între un castel şi o mănăstire a durat nouă ani. Locuinţa avea o suprafaţă totală de 3.150 metri pătraţi şi adăpostea un studio de înregistrări ultramodern.

Creţu a obţinut autorizaţia de construcţie abia la un an după ce demarase construirea casei. Mai multe organizaţii de protejare a mediului din Spania au intentat procese peste procese, care s-au încheiat luna aceasta printr-o decizie definitivă a Curţii Supreme, prin care se dispunea demolarea construcţiei.

'Au fost avertizaţi că este ilegală (construirea n.r.). Este o victorie pentru care ne dorim să nu fi fost nevoiţi să luptăm, însă este una istorică, deoarece construirea fusese un act de brutalitate', a declarat Neus Prats, care a condus acţiunea juridică împotriva casei artistului.

Michael Creţu s-a născut în 1957 în România, dintr-un tată român şi o mamă de origine austriacă. Unchiul său, celebrul violonist Ion Voicu, a fost cel care i-a descoperit talentul muzical. În 1988, Creţu s-a căsătorit cu cântăreaţa Sandra Lauer, cu care are doi băieţi gemeni, Nikita şi Sebastian, născuţi în 1995. În noiembrie 2007, Michael şi Sandra au divorţat, invocând 'divergenţe personale şi profesionale'. (V.A.)

Vineri, 10 Aprilie 2009 Diva pop a anilor ’80 se întoarce pe scenă cu albumul “Back to Life”. Sandra, fostă Lauer, fostă Creţu şi, nu în ultimul rând, fostă regină a ringurilor de dans din anii ’80, se întoarce în actualitatea muzicală şi, spune ea, şi în propria viaţă. “Back to Life” se numeşte noua producţie discografică a Sandrei şi este lansată zilele acestea în toată lumea. “Ar putea fi şi titlul autobiografiei mele, deoarece în aceste trei cuvinte («Înapoi la viaţă») este cuprins tot ce simt în acest moment”, declara artista în vârstă de 46 de ani. În anii ’80, Sandra a vândut peste 30 de milioane de albume. Întâlnirea cu Michael Creţu este începutul poveştii sale de succes. Începând cu 1985, compozitorul de origine română a întâlnit-o pe Sandra, pe atunci membră a trupei Arabesque, căreia i-a compus câteva piese care aveau să ajungă hituri internaţionale ca “Maria Magdalena”, “In The Heat Of The Night”, “Little Girl” sau “Everlasting Love”. Colaborarea a devenit şi una particulară, iar cei doi s-au căsătorit în anul 1988. Dar moda muzicală a anilor ’80 a apus, luând şi laurii gloriei de pe fruntea frumoasei Sandra. Ultimul hit al acesteia a fost “Hiroshima”, apărut în 1990. Doi ani mai târziu, după ce piesa “Close To Seven” nu s-a mai bucurat de succes, Sandra a mai apărut doar ca parte din “Enigma”, proiectul soţului ei. Succesul proiectului produs de Creţu este istoric (fără a susţine vreodată concerte live, au vândut peste 50 de milioane de albume), dar Sandra dispare pentru ani buni din actualitatea muzicală, mulţumindu-se cu statutul de soţie a lui Michael Creţu. Perechea de gemeni a cuplului, născută în 1995, întrerupe planurile Sandrei de a se întoarce pe piaţa muzicală cu proiecte solo. În 2002 o face totuşi, iar albumul “Wheel Of Time” ajunge pe locul 8 în topurile din Germania. Succese “din dragoste” Cu doi ani în urmă, Sandra şi Michael Creţu şi-au anunţat divorţul, motivul oficial fiind “diferenţele care s-au strecurat cu timpul între cei doi”. În timp ce Michael Creţu a continuat să facă ceea ce a făcut de când a inventat “Enigma”, la începutul anilor ’90, să creeze muzică şi să se ţină departe de zarva publicului, Sandra a încercat să-şi reia cariera, susţinând concerte în Germania, dar şi în Europa de Est. Ea a revenit în România în 2006, după ce la începutul anilor ’90 s-a numărat printre primii artişti occidentali care ne-au “vizitat” ţara. Dar despre o întoarcere în forţă a cântăreţei nu se putea vorbi. Albumul “The Art of Love”, produs de Jens Gad şi Sandra însăşi, a reuşit să-şi asigure un loc în Top 20, dar a rămas fără ecouri notabile. Succesul Sandrei pare să fie în strânsă legătura cu iubirea. Cu 25 de ani în urmă, iubirea pentru Creţu a făcut-o una dintre cele mai cunoscute figuri ale lumii muzicale. În anii ’90, tot iubirea lui Creţu i-a asigurat independenţa, chiar dacă nu muzicală, cel puţin pe cea financiară. Despărţirea de Creţu a dărâmat-o, aşa cum a declarat artista în mai multe rânduri. Iar acum, după doi ani şi la o nouă dragoste, Sandra se întoarce la viaţă şi pe scenă. Artista ştie că aceasta este “reţeta” succesului. “Pacea interioară şi noroc într-o relaţie. Mai mult de atât nu ai nevoie în viaţă”, spune artista, care şi-a regăsit fericirea în braţele lui Olaf Menges, în vârstă de 41 de ani. Sandra şi omul de afaceri german vor să se căsătorească în vara acestui an. PROIECTE Un nou turneu Sandra Noul album al Sandrei, “Back to Life”, conţine 15 melodii, iar unele dintre ele renasc tradiţia dance a anilor ’80. Altele sunt propuse ca hituri ale verii 2009. Una dintre acestea ar fi duetul înregistrat cu fostul component al trupei Modern Talking, Thomas Anders, “The Night is Still Young”. Pe lângă Anders, pe care Sandra îl cunoaşte din anii ’80, solista este sprijinită de producători cunsocuţi precum Toby Gad, creatorul hitului interpretat de Beyonce “If I Where a Boy” sau al celui interpretat de Fergie, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. Deşi din echipa Sandrei mai fac parte şi alte staruri ale muzicii, precum Zippy Davids, compozitorul piesei “Mambo N°5”, cântată de Lou Bega cu câţiva ani în urmă, criticii spun că, “fără Michael Creţu, Sandrei îi lipseşte potenţialul care pe vremuri a facut-o unică”. “Albumul acesta este, calitativ, la mile distanţă de cele apărute în trecut”, spune critica. Sandra a programat şi un turneu. Detaliile asupra acestuia nu sunt cunoscute, dar probele au început: “Mi-am chemat cei cinci muzicieni din München aici, pe Ibiza, şi am început probele pentru un program de scenă. Probele au fost superbe, iar să cânt live din nou este visul meu. Show-uri de televiziune şi interviurile nu sunt chiar teritoriul meu, în schimb scena este. Dacă sunt aruncată pe scenă, îmi este cel mai bine”, spune Sandra. „Îmi merge acum mai bine decât mi-a mers vreodată înainte”, mai spune cântăreaţa, citată de cotidianul “Bild”. Surse din anturajul Sandrei sustin ca aceasta se va casatori cu iubitul ei Olaf in vara acestui an.Relatia lor dateaza din 2008 din timpul divortului de Michael Cretu, fostul sot. Diva blonda e prezenta pretutindeni cu Olaf, care mai nou e si managerul ei.

Noul album al Sandrei se numeste BACK TO LIFE, lansarea lui va fi pe 27 martie 2009. Cuprinde piese cu un nou sound de ultima generatie. Lansarea albumului va fi precedata de concerte in toata Europa.Speram ca si tara noastra sa fie privilegiata din nou de prezenta Sandrei
